Sign Language for Babies!

I have been doing some more research and discovered another powerful educational tool. Sign language is such a great way to communicate with your child even before they have the ability to speak. Imagine being able to avoid the frustration of not knowing what your child wants by having him sign to you exactly what he wants ~ I'm hungry ~ My tummy hurts ~ I want my teddybear. What a great idea! I can't wait to get started with my little guy! I found a great package to get started with teaching your baby sign language.

It even comes with an email or phone consultation to help get started!

Developmental Toy Website Review

After giving birth to a beautiful baby boy, I realized how important it was to try to give him a head start in life. All I want for him is a world of opportunity and as his mother I'm the one that is responsible for his development. A baby's brain develops more in the first few years of life than at any other time. So why not use playtime as an opportunity to stimulate his brain as much as possible? It was then that I started looking online for developmental baby toys. The one problem was that I could not find a lot of toys for 0-6 months. I wasted a lot of time going to one website after another. I figured if I was having a problem with this that I bet someone else is to. So here are the best websites I could find for developmental baby toys for 0-6 months.

http://www.ebeanstalk.com/ ~ The layout of this website is very easy to use. Shopping by age is the primary focus on this site. You can even search by boy/girl once you select an age. I found a ton of toys 0-6 months on this site. I even bought the Winkel for my little boy and he loves it. Even better, under the expert tab you will find a link to learn about the developmental milestones of children. It tells you by age what senses/motor skills are developing so you can better interact with your baby. I love this site and will definitely be returning.

http://www.geniusbabies.com/ ~ On this site you can also shop by age and it has a specific group of birth and up toys. Check out the huge selection of activity playmats! The only drawback to this site is that because the selection is birth and up, you also get toys for all ages mixed in with the infant toys. Also the initial description of the toy doesn't tell you what age range it is appropriate for so you have to click on the toy and read the full description to find out. Other than that hassle, it did offer a wide selection and different types of developmental toys that I didn't see on other sites.

http://www.amazon.com/ ~ Amazon is always a reliable site. It has a wide variety of toys to choose from and it lists the age ranges the toy is appropriate for. The best way to find the selection of developmental baby toys is to do a search.

Other websites that didn't make the cut as my favorites but might be useful if you're looking for something specific:

http://www.tinylove.com/ ~ This site had a very small selection of toys however, this site has something that no other site has. After you select what age range you want to search for you can then search by different senses/motor skill. For example, after selecting 1-3 months you can also search by sight and hearing, head lifting, and hand-eye coordination.

http://www.bunnyburybaby.com/ ~ Smaller selection and doesn't list the appropriate age range.

http://manhattantoy.com/~ Again, smaller selection and doesn't list the appropriate age range. Also a little pricey. The Winkel I bought for $11.95 at http://www.ebeanstalk.com/ was listed for $15 at this site.

http://www.learningcurve.com/ ~ Again, smaller selection and doesn't list the appropriate age range.
